They were not the first to do a 460cc head, but when they did, it turned out really well. The D2's (at least on the prior models) are the 460cc heads while the D3's are usually a bit smaller and more traditional shaped heads. It really comes down to preference on look and feel. I have been playing the D3 heads since I like the way it looks at address.

Have not had my fitting yet but did take a 917 D3 to our club range and hit it with my old shaft set at my old settings. Ball flight much lower and did not carry as far as my old 910. Tried a 917 D2 at my old settings with my old shaft and got the same flight and distance as my old 910.
